A discourse on pet peeve

Certainly, everyone has got pet peeve. And what exactly do we mean when we say "Pet peeve ". Never heard the word before, you'll get to know today. 

Pet peeve means anything that is personally annoying, a personal dislike. That which you can't stand and which you considered as repugnant and distasteful.


Most times, many people love to object- thereby claiming they have no pet peeve. Akward! No matter how calm and reserved you are, you sure will have a personal dislike(s) and truly - humans will make you distaste some things due to crazy acts! Still eager to know what one could refer to as pet peeve. Here are 10  common pet peeves which will have been reasons for lot of scuffles and ruffles!


Being stared at - You try to look elsewhere yet you still have the feeling they keep staring at you. Crazy right but some peeps definitely love to stare till you feel less confident of your appearance. Endeavour to look elsewhere, hope they stop staring. Being stared at is one common pet peeve!


People who laughs obnoxiously - That moment you sit next to a person and he/she keeps laughing hysterically even due to issues not much hilarious leaving you flustered and enraged!It's one act I can't condole. " It's a good thing to laugh but not at incessant issues.


Popping gum and chewing gum loudly ones - You can't stand next to my boss and chew or pop gum and for a year that i have known her, i consider it as her pet peeve. To her, it's definitely rude to do so. Well,  elders surely distaste this act and consider it as disrespectful. Entirely and mostly it's pet peeve of elderly ones  ( above 40 )


Passengers that slumbers - Hilarious! Travelling to Abuja and you meet a Jonah who just can't help but sleep and you keep wondering if you know this passenger. Yet, they continue placing their neck and head on your shoulders! I really don't encounter such passengers and I pray not to!

The intruders - There are certain people who seem to see no big deal in taking your belongings without asking, I call these ones - the intruders. This is one common pet peeve!

People who don't return borrowed belongings - At some point, you sure will feel like yelling "It's not a gift, return it!" when you borrow someone your belonging perhaps a shovel,frying pan e.t.c 
It's unruly how peeps hold on to things that ain't theirs.

Getting interrupted - Please, let me die before you bury me is a common Naija sentence. Definitely, no one likes to be interrupted but Sister A will flare up than Sister B if it's Sister A's pet peeve especially.

Dishes in sink - Some people believe in the rule - wash the plates immediately you are through with the meal while some don't! It differs!

The gluttons - Should we consider them as gluttons even when they keep citing "There's love in sharing"? but wait! It doesn't hurt to ask for permission before dipping your spoon in   someone else's food!

Those who feel comfortable walking behind you- If I'm not in a crowded place, I distaste
someone walking behind me! What's your thought on this certain pet peeve? Comfortable with it?

Open mouthed chewers - That momment you sight a pickle dropping from the hamburger or jam soiling the lips of the one eating beside you. Yuck! And other common pet peeves are hair in the sink, the fanatics and aggressive debaters and much more.

I"ll be dropping just three of my pet peeves you sure will like to know.
Passengers / buyers that turns you to a load carrier - it's crazy when you are travelling or buying some goods and a buyer gives you load to hold without pleading like you're one load carrier!

The Know it all - I don't consider myself as wise enough but so enraged will I be when I see people trying to impress by acting they know everything.

The conceited/proud ones - Some people are like peacocks with raised shoulders and tilted neck - boasting everytime! Being around proud ones is one of my pet peeve!
