John Ian stared longly at the notepad and college magazine grasped between his fingers. His spectacles dropped at the tip of his nose with his mouth widely opened, almost drooling. Settling down beside the desk which he had placed his laptop and earphones on; he buried his face in his hands, dropping his spectacles next to his laptop.
"I wish I had done it quickly before he did. I should have taken the project seriously! He's in the college magazine now, invented a ballpen that can switch to more than ten objects? Damn it! I can do more. I shouldn't have faked being ill, I end up leaving things half-done or undone. I should have tried even if I would fail!! " John Ian shouted, dashing his baseball on the ground.
And the quote "One who tries and fail is far better than the one who doesn't try at all" should definitely be agreed with. The word "Procrastination" has become a huge threat to success and realization of potentials in the society today. I would say it's deplorable and should be condemned for the evil it evokes on its victims. Yes, we might consider it as usual and normalcy yet its power exceed all predictions. Oxford dictionary defines procrastination as the act of "postponing" "delaying" "putting off" habitually or intentionally. The worst about procrastination is the idea of "putting off. It is of no doubt that if not tackled, procrastination can become an habit and its reccurence can cause more harm than we ever envisage. A lot of people can give an account or their experience of how they became an habitual procrastinator and how they lost a job, opportunities, family members and even a child. A parent who gives his/her work much attention, heard from his/her child a complaint about the child feeling pain and kept on postponing an appointment with the doctor can lose a child to coma, critical situation or even death. Procrastination can be called a demon due to its malevolent effects and harmful influence towards one's success and that which can be done at a flash. But what do we call ourselves when we let procrastination suppress us and make us lose great opportunities- gullible fool or ignorant victim? One of the biggest mistakes a man can ever make in life is subjecting himself to the power of procrastination!
Have you ever lost opportunities due to you, procrastinating?
Do you still let its power influence you or you've break off from its yokes yet?
